04From the trucks
Attic air handlers are a Phoenix signature and a Phoenix punishment. Priya works them on a schedule built around physics: in the attic by 6am, out by noon, ice water staged at the ladder. This one — a Tempe fourplex — got a new blower motor, a float switch, and a drain flush before the attic hit triple digits.
The July 14 dust storm dropped visibility to nothing for forty minutes and matted every condenser coil from Avondale to Gilbert. The week after a haboob is coil-cleaning week: $195, low-pressure rinse, and a measurable head-pressure drop on the gauges before we leave. This condenser in Goodyear was rejecting heat like a closed window until it got hosed out.
